Established Marble Quarry in Albania Is Available for Joint Venture

There is a marble quarry available of 400 hectare for JV. Total mineral resource in is 10,000 million MT. The colour of marble is beige and white fossiliferous.

The lime stone property of Milova in Skrapar is situated between the villages of Milova, Zalocia, and Gjerbes Leshnje. The mining site is 25 km from Çorovodë town which falls in Skrapar district. It is one of the thirty-six districts of Albania, part of Berat County. It has a population of 10,200 (2010 estimate), and an area of 775 km². It is in the centre of the country, and its capital is Çorovodë.

The permissible marble quantity of 1000 cum/ year as mentioned in the license is to be get revised to minimum 11,000 cm/year keeping in view the proposed mining targets of about 30,000 tons/year at the end of 5th year .Likewise , total production for the lease period is also to be revised to minimum of 500,000 m3 considering average 20,000m3/year production

The Skrapar marble has been exported to many countries like Italy, Greece, China and other northern European countries. This marble is used widely in domestic and industrial construction sector. Other uses area mainly monuments construction markets, handicraft and antiques. The white coloured stone has has been categorized as 1st grade, beige is 2nd and brown is 3rd grade in an average. Other properties like fractures, pin holes, size and shape has also very important role to decide market value of the stone. Before Greece and Italy was main buyer but these days china is competing the other two countries. Some Indian companies has also been come to buy and trying to established some processing and cutting units. This stone has not been introduce in gulf and Russian market which may be a good scope for development regarding this marble stone.

Considering mineral resource estimated so far on the basis of this level of exploration, & considering maximum annual production target of 65000 MT, tentative life of mine comes to be more than 1980 years.
