Equity Investment in Fully Mechanized Dairy Farm. 30% Returns YOY

We will set-up of a fully modern dairy farm to deal in Organic Pure cow milk with door-to-door retail delivery model and IRR of 30%.

We are in the process of building a fully-mechanized dairy farm on the outskirts of Chandigarh, that will be dealing with the premium Organic pure cow milk segment with a price point of Rs. 65/ litre all the way up to Rs. 110/litre.

The entrepreneurs will develop the farm as fully- automated with free stall sheds with soft beds, allowing cows to roam around it. The sheds will take care of all needs of the cows including – fresh clean water, mist/fogger during the summers to keep the temperature down, large industrial grade fans to have good air circulation and temperature control. Use of Total Mixing Ration Unit (TMR) for preparing the right feed for the cows. The milk collected directly goes to Bulk Milk Cooler (BMC) and then directly to Pouching/ bottling plant for retail packing. There is no human touch in the complete flow of milk from udder to pouch. We will bring down the milk to 4 degree Centigrade in the BMC to avoid any growth of bacteria count. The end delivered result is the pure cow milk as naturally received from the cow itself.

The complete supply chain from cow’s udder to client’s doorstep will be under controlled temperatures ensuring that they are kept in 4-8 degree range. The parlour is fully automated and will detect any issues with the milk inline to avoid any contamination in BMC. Each cow will have an RFid tag which will not only be used for recording key data points like milk given, last pregnancy etc., but will also be used for behavioural prediction which helps in early detection of diseases and heat for artificial insemination.

Best of the industry practice of herd management, breeding and farm design will be used to get the maximum productivity and efficiency from the farm. The farm will be carbon neutral and will be using cow dung to generate electricity by means of Bio Gas plant. The bio gas plant slurry will be used to produce high potential organic manure. In addition to this on the long run the shed surface area will be used for installation of solar panels for generation of electricity which can be sold back to the grid.

The plan is to build a replicable and scalable model, which can be used to scale the farms in one single location up to 1000 milk animals and to replicate the model in vicinity of other metro where the cosmopolitan population resides. Once we are able to build our own breed of high productivity cows (needs 3 years from start of the farm) we will use this breed to cater to growth both at the first location and then to the subsequent locations as identified. The first location will also act as the training ground for generation of trained work force which can be deployed as the expansion happens. On the long run, each of these farms will help develop micro dairies within 50 km radius of the farm by providing high quality heifers and feed to local dairy farmers. The milk produced will be collected and processed to produce pure Cow milk products including Curd, Buttermilk and Ghee.

The project is directed towards new generation cosmopolitan families, who are quality conscious and will like to get pure milk for themselves and their families and understand that the milk received post pasteurization and homogenization may not be able to cater basic needs of a growing child and adults.
