I would like to start my own business in the paint sector. For the past 4 years I was involved with one of the top paint distributor shops in the Kouga region as manager, technical sales and automotive colour matching. I want to start a shop that delivers customer satisfaction in all aspects, being it through customer service, people skills, and most of all to supply the right product for the right application at the best price.

I have been in the paint industry for the past 12 years and have excelent technical knowledge and practical product application. I would like to be the first paint shop in the Eastern Cape to have a mobile colour matching vehicle on the road. The one thing that I have learned in the time that i have been working in this industry is that the colour matching department is the make or brake of the company. If I can provide the service of a mobile unit witch will give the customers on site colour matching, that will increase the demand for other products to be delivered to them on a daily basis.

This service is a service that has not been delivered for quite some time. I will set up stock sheets for all my customers wich I can have a look at daily and just replace the stock they used, so there will be no need for them to go through the ordering proces of taking stock and calling to place orders. The mobile unit will be stocked with a range of products wich the body shops use and it will be available to them imediately.

The most important service that I will be offering to my customers is technical on site assistance, in the paint industry there are often problems with paint pealing or reacting. The only way to provide a long term solution is to establish exactly what the cause of the problem is and to know what the solution is to solve the problem. With my extensive knowledge of the paint industry I know that I am able to provide this service. I have been providing this service to customers for the past 8 years with sucess and know what a difference this service makes in the industry. I want to supply the widest range of paint brands for my customers to choose from insuring that I can satisfy all my customers needs.

Competitive Advantage

I have been dealing with the local customer base for the past 12 years and since I left my previous employer most of them found new suppliers about 100km away, the idea with the mobile automotive mixing unit will make the life of the customer a lot easier and save them a lot of time. The investment for such a unit is pricey and I know that the competitors in the local market will not go to the extent to acquire such a unit, the costs would be to much for them to invest knowing that they might fail!

Rationale for the deal

With the service that I will offer the customers will be willing to pay a bit more for the convinience, wich means higher profits. No one in the area has tried it so indication of the market for such a unit. Only the customer feed back that I have had over the past three years in discussing such a unit with them.

Use of financing

The funding is required to purchase a vehicle and get it fitted with all the needed mixing banks and shelfs and also to open a shop, the rent on the property, telepfone, computers, signage, stationary, stock and to cover 6 monts overheads.

I would like to repay it over 72 - 84 months.
